A BI Developer creates and manages BI and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.
They should have a background in data and business analysis. They should be analytical and an excellent communicator.
The developer will enhance develop our business intelligence system from the ground-up to help the organization make better decisions.
Responsibilities:
– Advising clients on the best analytics practices and deliver analytics capabilities on time and on
budget.
– Capture client requirements and model data to develop an effective intelligence solution architecture, working with the business and existing members of IT on the ground. This includes helping to design the reporting, dashboard requirements that the business requires.
– Design and develop bespoke Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics solutions either using open source or existing SQL related licensed technologies.
– Implement solutions using best practices for the management and transformation of data
– Design and develop effective reports and dashboards to present information in a clear and informative manner. Data should be available to end users where they can integrate to Excel and/or be able to slice and dice the data.
– Demonstrable experience designing or developing advanced business intelligence & analytics solutions using the full Microsoft BI stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
– Select the correct data analytic platform that is suitable for the business (SQL Server, Microsoft Power BI, MicroStartegy, QlikView, Tableau or any open source tools).
– Maintain and support data analytics platforms.
– Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes).
– Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting.
– Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.
– Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses.
– Create visualizations and reports for requested projects.
– Develop and update technical documentation.
Requirements:
– Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist. Experience or awareness of Big Data and Data Science related technologies, such as R or Azure Machine Learning, to design and implement predictive analytics models.
– Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining.
– In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
– Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI).
– Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
– Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative.
– Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
– BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematical or relevant field.
